The City of Federal Way Transportation Improvement Program
(TIP) is a list of projects considered for a six-year period. Updated and adopted by the City Council
and submitted to the state each year, as required by law, the TIP includes both projects for which money has been allocated and are likely to be constructed within the six-year period, as well as unfunded projects that may not be constructed within the plan period.
The TIP serves as a draft work plan for the development of local transportation systems. It represents an important planning component under the state’s Growth Management Act. In most instances, projects must be included in the city's TIP to be eligible for state and federal grants funding.
